We Made a Chair [& an Ottoman]
The most complex, most expensive and most complicated project we've ever undertaken. From concept to final delivery (unfortunately, the table isn't living at our residence) this project took about NINE (9) MONTHS!
A10' long outdoor dining table, made of Brazilian Ipe and clear epoxy. Accompanying the table are two complementary 9' long benches, made from the same materials. As of this posting, we are still holding out hope for an invitation from the client, to eat a meal at our creation. LOL
Challenges:
1) Ipe [also known as Brazilian Walnut] is some of the densest (read 'heaviest') wood we've ever worked with. It's so heavy that we could barely move even one single board around the shop without our trusty assistant.
2) We've never worked with epoxy before and had to teach ourselves how it works. (Thank you YouTube!)
3) The table was going to be too big and heavy to move, so I had to pack up the [A]NI workshop and work remote, as it was built in place at his house.
4) We were building this for a client who knows what he likes and wants what he likes; so we had to take special care to make him happy.
